Two real settings, and nothing invented around them.
A settings screen usually promises a profile, a team, roles and notifications. Here there's no account and no organisation. What you can set today is how the interface looks, and how you move around it with the keyboard.
The theme preference is saved in the browser, on this device only.
What this product does
Light or dark theme
The header button switches the interface between light and dark. The choice is written to the browser local storage and picked up on the next load. With no choice saved, the system preference decides.
Keyboard navigation
The command palette opens with ⌘K or Ctrl+K, filters as you type, moves with the arrows and closes with Esc. It reaches every surface of the hub without touching the mouse.
Organisation settings, later
Members, roles, billing, notifications: none of that's adjustable here today, because there are no organisations. Those settings only arrive after them, and this page says so rather than hide it behind greyed-out fields.
In detail
The preference lives in your browser
The theme is stored under a single localStorage key. No server receives it and nothing syncs it: change machine or browser and you're back to the system preference.
Both themes are designed
Light mode isn't an automatic inversion of dark mode. Each has its own values in the :root tokens.
⌘K, everywhere
The shortcut is global and listened for on the document, so it works from any page of the hub.
No profile to fill in
With no authentication, there's nobody to identify. No account form is offered here, not even an empty one.
Shortcuts can't be remapped
The palette commands are written in the code. There's no screen to reassign them, and pretending otherwise would be a button that does nothing.
Who it is for
- An evening session
- You pick the dark theme once, and the hub reopens in it on the same browser.
- Working in daylight
- The light theme keeps the interface readable on a screen in the sun, without changing the layout.
- Moving around with the keyboard
- ⌘K, a few letters, Enter: you land on the surface you wanted without leaving the keyboard.
- First time on another machine
- No preference is found, so the hub follows the light or dark setting of the system.
Open the settings
The page shows what you can set today, and names what is waiting on organisations.
